MOA of Industry Academe Linkages
RTU has been in partnership with the different industries into which the programs are segregated according to the most suited industry where the student is expected to learn from real-life application of theories. To guarantee that there is a commitment from the University and the Industry, the partnership is formalized thru the execution of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)/Memorandom of Agreement (MOA); a sample of which may be viewed here.
Involvement in Industry-Academe Linkages
RTU recognizes that students’ cognitive assimilation is highly influenced by hands-on learning, specifically in performing laboratory experiments which are integral part of the ECE CMO. However the students see the proof of theory, the actual implementation of learned experiences need to be further appreciated thru industry immersion. The Cooperative Education Department (COE) has been tasked to oversee the exposure of students not only in experiencing the application of knowledge earned but, more importantly, in providing the venue in participating and working as a team in a business establishment. COE coordinators work hand-in-hand with the company training officers in assuring that a well-rounded course-related experience is provided the students. Attendance and Performance Evaluation are part of the requirements submitted to the school to ensure that the required industry-immersion time is completed and that their performance are graded based on the partner’s evaluation. The same becomes part of the feedback path to enable the department in fortifying student skills and competencies that the industry may require. Industry-Academe Linkage Projects
Rohm LSI Design Philippines (RLDP) and RTU forged a partnership dubbed as Engineering – Pre-requisitos in IC Design (EPIC) where they provided the learning modules complete with software which are the same platforms they use in the design microelectronic chips. The learning experience of students are handeled by the ECE instructors who were also trained and certified by the same company to implement the operation of the modules. The company, in return, is given the opportunity to choose among those trained to become part of their company. Converge IT Solutions, a company that provides certification-level IT solutions, partnered with the Electronics Engineering Department in providing free certification training to the recently-graduated ECE students. Dubbed as Cisco Technician Certification / Cisco Certification for Network Associate, the activity featured Networking knowledge to aid in taking the Cisco Certification examination. Performance Evaluation of Industry-Academe Linkages
The Cooperative Education Program, chanelled as the University’s Industry-Academe functional linkage, monitors the merits of the of the program through an evaluation filled-up after the student has successfully completed the mandated number of hours of industry immersion. The performance of the students, as viewed from the employer’s perpective, is an indicator as to whether there is a need to re-tool the curriculum or to revise subject areas to adopt to evolving technologies.
